Using Social Login in your Shopify Store's mobile app

Enable Sign in with Google, Facebook, Shop, and Apple in your Median App (Shopify).

Shopify’s Customer accounts feature lets customers sign in to the store with their Google, Facebook, and Shop login details. This works in your Median app out of the box. Using Sign in with Apple requires a Shopify Plus plan and Median's Social Login plugin, connected through your own identity provider and custom login page.

⚠️

Apple App Store (Guideline 4.8) "Sign in with Apple" is mandatory if your app uses any third-party or social login service (such as Google, Facebook, or X) to set up or authenticate a user's primary account. This does not affect Android apps.

Legacy customer accounts

Shopify's Social sign-in features are not natively supported on legacy customer accounts. Upgrade to the latest version of customer accounts in your Shopify admin to enable Shopify's social sign-in.

  1. In your Shopify admin, head over to Settings → Customer accounts.
  2. Ensure you aren’t using legacy customer accounts, a message to update will be visible if you are.
  3. In the Authentication section, click Manage.
  4. On the Authentication page, set up Google and Facebook sign-in following these Shopify guides.
  5. After saving your changes, head to your customer login page in the mobile app to test these social login methods.

Connect your own Identity Provider (Shopify Plus)

Shopify Plus stores can connect an OpenID Connect (OIDC) compliant identity provider, such as Auth0 or Okta to use a custom login page and enable Sign in with Apple. The provider replaces Shopify's default sign-in page, so you can place the buttons for each social login method, including Sign in with Apple.

Check out Shopify's identity provider documentation to get started. This approach requires Median's Social Login plugin. Here is our documentation on configuring Sign in with Apple.
