Subject: Alternate app icons + white overlay on back navigation (Android)

Hi Median team,

I'm building my fitness app FORGE with Median (Android). I have two questions:

  1. Alternate / dynamic app icons
I'd like the app icon on the home screen to change based on the user's progress (similar to Duolingo, e.g. a special icon for certain ranks or streak states). On Android this is usually done with activity-aliases in the manifest that are enabled/disabled at runtime.
  • Does Median support alternate app icons out of the box (with a JavaScript bridge function to switch them)?
  • If not, is this something you could add as a custom native feature, and what would it cost?
  • Could I also provide a monochrome layer for Android 13+ themed icons?
  1. White overlay when navigating back in dark mode
My web app handles the Android back button via the browser history. On every back navigation, Median shows a semi-transparent overlay with a small loading spinner for about 0.4 seconds. My app supports light and dark mode and reports it via median.screen.setColorScheme('dark'), but in dark mode the overlay is still white.
  • What is the correct setting to remove this overlay completely? Is it "disableAnimations": true or "hideWebviewAlpha": 0 in the "styling" section of appConfig.json, and where exactly does it go?
  • Alternatively, can the overlay follow the color scheme set via setColorScheme (black in dark mode)?

Thanks a lot!
