Right-to-left (Hebrew) apps: does the native bottom tab bar mirror on Hebrew-language devices?
Hello Median team,
I am preparing to purchase a licence for an iOS and Android app in Hebrew. The app shows the members' area of a WordPress website in a web view, with a native bottom tab bar of four items, and I need to confirm how Median handles right-to-left layouts before we commit.
In a free test project, the website itself displays correctly from right to left inside the app on both iOS and Android. On a phone set to English, however, the native bottom tab bar does not mirror: the items appear from left to right in the order configured. Listing the tabs in reverse order corrected this on both platforms. I have not yet been able to test on a phone set to Hebrew, which is how most of our users' phones are set up.
Could you please confirm the following?
(1) When the device language is set to Hebrew (or Arabic), does the native bottom tab bar mirror automatically, on iOS and on Android? If it does, a reversed tab order would end up displayed the wrong way round on those devices.
(2) Is there a setting to fix the tab bar direction (always right-to-left, or always following the device language) so that it displays the same way on every device?
(3) Which other native elements follow the device direction or language? In particular: the top navigation bar and back gesture, the sidebar menu, the offline screen, pull-to-refresh, and system prompts such as the notification permission request.
(4) Can the app name and the native interface strings be set in Hebrew, and on which plan?
(5) Are there published apps in Hebrew or Arabic using the native tab bar that we could look at as examples?
(6) Is right-to-left handled the same way on the Starter plan as on Essential and Plus? We intend to purchase Starter, with the OneSignal plugin for notifications.
Thank you for your help.
