Android initial URL opens in App Browser instead of main WebView

Android initial URL is configured as https://www.teemates.co.uk.
Link Behavior has been restored to defaults and Android rebuilt.
On launch, the initial URL opens in the App Browser/Custom Tab rather than the main WebView.
Closing the App Browser leaves a blank white WebView, and the configured splash screen never appears.
