Back button closes app instead of going to previous page

We've recently been getting reports of our app getting closed when trying to navigate back. This doesn't happen in general, just on specific devices/OSes. Affected users seem to use Oppo or OnePlus devices. One user reported this issue showing up after having updated to Oxygen OS 16.0.0.201.
Is this a known issue and is there a way to work around it?
